Cannonsburg Mountain Bike Team

The Cannonsburg Mtn bike team will meet weekly on Thurdays from 6pm to 7pm at Cannonsburg Ski Area. The program starts June 13th and ends August 1st.

There will be no practice the week of July 4th.

Mountain bikes, helmets and closed toe shoes are required. Kids must have a little experience pedaling over dirt and grass. Kids will be placed in beginner, intermediate and expert groups. Regardless of the group level, the fun factor will be high and before long all of the teams will be flying through the woods!

• Working mountain bike
• Helmet
• Closed-toe shoes
• Water bottle or hydration pack

• Mountain bikes should have treaded tires and 2 hand brakes (front and rear).
• Coaster brakes (feet brakes) and training wheels are not allowed for safety reasons.
• We ask that kick stands be removed (for safety) since we will be riding over rocks and roots!

Please make sure that your child's mountain bike is in working order before our first practice. We highly recommend stopping by a bike shop for a tune-up if there are shifting problems or brake pads that need replacing. Remember, a squeaky chain is not a happy chain. Be sure to stop by the front office to say hi!

When registering, please pick June 13th for the start date! You only need to register once for the entire program.

A team jersey is available to purchase for an additional $35. These jerseys are not required, but highly recommended as they are highly durable for mountain biking and are made from a breathable material that is great for riding on hot days.

You'll be asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding your child's experience. Please use the following guide to determine their mountain bike skill level. This is just a starting block and there is often movement between teams during the first couple of practices.

Skill levels

Beginner

New to biking but can pedal for increments of 15-20 minutes without stopping. Can ride on various terrain. Has the ability to brake when needed.

Intermediate

Has some experience riding on trails and can pedal 30-45 minutes without stopping. Can pedal up climbs and descend downhills.

Expert

Can pedal 45-1 hour with minimal stopping. Can handle riding over various terrain (rocks, roots) and can ride comfortably in a group.

The Cannonsburg Mountain Bike team has limited capacity. In order to receive a full refund, you must cancel 30 days before the program starts (June 13th). If you cancel after May 13th, a 50% refund will be granted. There will be NO refunds after June 1st. Thank you!
