More Registration Information Coming Soon!

Cannonsburg Cubs is a Mountain Biking team for kids who use strider bikes or are beginning peddlers! Cubs will get a fun introduction to an awesome sport by exploring the trails at Cannonsburg with trained coaches. They will work on the basics of Mountain Biking and learn trail stewardship while building confidence in themselves and their abilities!

Start date: TBD

Weekly practices:

Strider: Striders are our youngest group and ride on bikes with no pedals. Even though they are small, they are fierce. We usually stride for a half hour. Parents are required to stay on site and be available for bathroom breaks. We have different skill levels within the strider group, and that is ok. Some striders hit the ground striding while others prefer to push their bikes. By the end of the season we usually can't keep up with any of them! If you have a Cub that just graduated to pedals, we recommend keeping them on a strider until they are confident pedaling over grass and uneven terrain. There's a pretty big difference between pavement and grass/trail.

Beginner: Graduated from riding a strider bike and can ride on uneven terrain that is mostly flat. Beginners have the stamina to ride 45-ish minutes (with water and rest breaks). Beginners work a lot on spacing, learning trail etiquette, dismounting and mounting a bike, braking, climbing, etc. Don't worry, we make it fun!

TBD

Parent Participation:

The Cannonsburg Cubs are independent, adventurous, and fierce but let’s face it, every now and then it’s nice to wave at mom and dad during a run. Since each practice is only 30 minutes long we require a parent or family member remain on-site. While the Cubs are out exploring the trails, you’ll be able to hang out on the deck and get a treat and a drink from The Sweet Spot!

Weather:

Just like real tigers, our Cubs will run rain, shine, or heat wave (all safely of course)! Practices will be canceled if weather conditions are dangerous and parents will be notified as soon as possible.

Gear:

We encourage everyone to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout training. Our feet are our most important piece of gear when it comes to running, so sturdy, close toed running shoes are a must! Wear clothes that you are comfortable to move in and dress for the weather. Don’t forget your sun protection: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.
